This week has been so exciting for me so I just had to share it with you! For months now I have been working toward a new branding, website and blog. Along with this I have had new brochures printed to reflect the brand which have arrived this week and look gorgeous! The new logo is finished and the Website and blog are due to go live Friday just in time for this weekends huge EDP wedding Show at Norfolk Showground. Sneak Peek.... Sarah & Mark...

On a cold February evening I met this gorgeous couple Sarah and Mark for their Engagement Shoot in Norwich. They decided they would like to have their Engagement Shoot done at night around the gorgeous Cathedral and Riverside. This proved to be a bit of a first for me as although I have shot at the Cathedral plenty of times I have never had a night time shoot there! They have a gorgeous Engagement story, and in fact getting together story which I will look forward to sharing with you when I post the rest of their shoot but for now here is there gorgeous Sneak Peek....

Happy Valentines! I hope all you lovely couples out there spoilt each other and showed your love; I hope all my 2011 Bride and Grooms are thinking about their next Valentines - their first one as husband and wife and that all my 2010 Bride and Grooms are celebrating in a big way!

I am a sucker for a bit of romance, maybe that is why I love my job so much! More than the gestures and gifts though I LOVE to hear a good story! I am always the girl crying at the weepy films in the corner of the cinema, a sad book can effect me for days and my boyfriend is always astounded at my sheer unfloudering ability to cry at a 30 second TV advert (the John Lewis ones are the best!)

So with that in mind I have decided to launch an Awesome Valentines Offer and because I have such a big heart (sucker for a love story) this is not a competition but is in fact open to any Engaged couple who just has a darn good story to share!

Gemma and Simon - Valentines Sneak Peek...

Gemma and Simon's wedding is coming up in April so we choose a rather windy afternoon yesterday to do their Engagement Shoot! Gemma suggested that we meet at their venue, the beautiful Hunters Hall in Norfolk a venue I had not yet visited. It did not disappoint and we spent the morning exploring the gorgeous barns, orchard and courtyards getting some lovely ideas for their wedding day and some beautiful shots of the two of them. I have chosen this shot for their sneak peek as I love Gemma's windswept hair and Simon cuddling up to her almost to keep her warm! Gemma also has the most amazing green eyes which just look so stunning in this shot I had to share it with you. They are a really fun couple so we had some lovely laughing images but, being Valentines I thought I would share a more romantic shot that just oozes intensity and their love for each other...

Photographer Tweetup... Sneak Peek

Yesterday I visited fabulous London Town to meet lots of new photographer friends, shoot together and have a drink or two! There were over 20 of us attend and it was so much fun! One of the lovely Photographers had arranged two beautiful models and between them and shooting each other we all simply had a play, experimented, shared ideas and tried new things. Below is one of my favorite shots from the shoot but there will be lots more to come soon!

I would like to just say a huge thank you to Matt for making it happen, Shan for bringing the models, the beautiful Anastasiya, Caroline and Diana for being gorgeous and doing such an awesome job of modeling for 20 demanding photographers!

Victoria and Adam... Engagement Shoot Sneak Peek

This morning I had a great Engagement Shoot in the gorgeous city of Norwich at one of my favorite locations, Norwich Cathedral. The sky was grey and it was rather blustery as I met Victoria and Adam outside the huge Cathedral doors but they were both excited (if a touch nervous!) and I could see they were going to be great fun to shoot! They had a particularly special reason to choose Norwich Cathedral; whilst on holiday last March Adam proposed, outside a rather snowy but beautiful, Prague Cathedral (could you get much more of a romantic location?!) I wanted to mirror this amazing memory for them in their Engagement Shoot and although I couldn't arrange the snow (I did try!) I think the beauty of the amazing cloisters does a fairly good job of it in this shot!

Thank you for being such great sports guys and getting a little windswept and hungry (Victoria!) I look forward to showing you the rest in a couple of weeks x

A little help and advice...

This week has been a little crazy for me. For the last few weeks I have been working on some great blog posts with some lovely, talented and very inspirational wedding bloggers and all three seem to have come together and been posted this week! I love having my shoots featured, be it Engagement, Weddings or Lifestyle but sometimes it is nice to dip your toe on a slightly different pond. I was asked by two wedding blogs to look at written posts to help all you Bride and Grooms out there with some simple, honest, wedding photography advice. So armed with a 10 year old English A Level and spell check, I wracked my brains and between me and the bloggers decided on two topics... 'How to choose a Wedding Photographer' and 'How to get the best from your Wedding Photographer'. It was important to me that the posts were as un-bias as possible, which made writing them harder than I thought! Simple, honest advice not about spending a fortune or indeed booking 'me' but a few good tips on what to look for in the daunting world of photographers and what you can do to help create the magic on your day. So Monday saw my lovely Bride and Groom, Louise and Chris' Engagement Shoot, featured on the gorgeous Boho Bride; Tuesday saw 'How to Choose a Wedding Photographer' on the beautiful Times Two Hearts Blog; with Wednesday and Thursday 'How the get the best from your Photographer' featured in 2 parts on the rather inspirational, Wedding Inspiration Blog. Janine Rocking her Frock!

Today I had the huge pleasure of shooting the beautiful Janine in a Rock the Frock extravaganza! Janine is actually a fellow photographer whom I met on a photography course and although lives over an hour away upon chatting last week we realised that she was planning a trip to Norfolk at the weekend! So this morning (although a little bit grey and threatening rain) we set off to a location I had been longing to shoot at for ever! Both chatting photography and bouncing ideas off each other we had a ball and although Janine was getting a wee bit cold toward the end I could have shot her all day! Believe it or not Janine got married 7 years ago and has since had no less than 4, yes 4, children! I can't believe she even fits in her dress never mind still looks so damn hot in it! Here she is at one of the grungier locations we choose working it!

Anna & Richard... Sneak Peek

Today saw my 2nd Engagement Shoot of the year and it was another fantastic one! I met the gorgeous Anna and Richard at beautiful Norwich Cathedral mid afternoon with a grey overcast sky looking like the heavens might open! We started in the grounds of the Cathedral (in anticipation of the rain) and got some beautiful shots under the cloisters (yes Richard I remembered what they were called!) This couple were so much fun and up for anything which I love about them including sitting pretty much anywhere and lying on the cold stone floor (sorry Anna!) There were so many potential Sneak Peeks to choose from but I have decided to tease them (and you) with this one. I love the slightly mischievous look on Anna's face and how Richard is kissing her head they just look so in love!

The sun did come out and we have some gorgeous golden lit shots as the sun was going down but they are for a later post!

Sneak Peek... Winter Sunshine

Yesterday afternoon saw my first shoot of 2011! This lovely couple decided to have their shoot at the gorgeous Eaton Park in Norwich somewhere that they had regularly used as a meeting and date location when they first met! Caroline was super nervous but soon got in to it and we got some lovely romantic shots of the two of them in the gorgeous low winter sunshine. This was one of my favorite shots so I thought to celebrate the sunshine I would make this their sneak peek. Rikki is a keen and talented photographer himself so I hope this is up to his standards.

50 Faves to make you smile...

Looking back through 2010 I cannot believe what an amazing year I had! In fact it went by so quickly I got to September and still couldn't believe we had gone past March! It has been emotional, as they say, but also fun, busy, exhausting and enlightening! I learnt so much my brain was overflowing and I came out of the year with a new address book full of clients who had become friends and an array of new clients booked in for 2011.

I said my thank yous in my last post so this is really to show what 2010 looked like for me... through my favorite photographs. I have decided to call this my 50 faves, some are in there because I am so proud of the beauty my camera has captured, some are included because I am always in awe of the love my gorgeous clients share and some are in there because they are just down right fun!

I hope you like my selection, there were hundreds more I could have put in as 50 doesn't even cover the number of shoots I did but these are the images that make me smile every time I look at them... and I hope you will too...

A huge thank you to all my brides, grooms, and little people for being so much fun and making it so easy to take beautiful images of - I hope to see you all in 2011! x

Happy New Year to all my supportive clients friends and family and some of the fantastic businesses I have come across in 2010 all keen to help, advise and recommend. 2010 has been a record year for Katherine Ashdown Photography and saw the business doubling both Lifestyle and Wedding bookings from 2009! I have been thrilled with the success of the business and overwhelmed by the messages of support and help I have received. I am never more conscious in the current economic climate that so far (touch wood) I have been very, very lucky to have achieved my dream and be making a living doing something I love with all my heart. It is so hard at the moment for so many people and businesses alike and with my partners job in jeopardy due to the government cuts I am grateful for every day I keep things buoyant. However this post is very much dedicated to you, my readers, friends, colleagues, clients, brides and grooms as none of this would be possible without your love of my work, your faith, believe and total trust that I will make your images as fantastic as I possibly can.

2011 is set to be an amazing year bookings are already up and I start my first shoots of the year next weekend! I am excited by so many possibilities, so many brides and grooms yet to meet, so many families yet to be photographed, wedding shows to attend, Engagement shoots and wedding bookings galore and my big project for the start of the year is a total new re brand, website and blog!

So things are looking great for the coming year I would like to wish you all every success in your own personal life and careers and I look forward to being a part of your 2011.

Baby L's First Photo Shoot....

Some of you may remember the Sneak Peek of this gorgeous wee boys Mummy and Daddy during their bump shoot! I knew when the rainbow came out on that day that this was going to be a special baby... born to have his photo taken! So after he was born we wasted little time and set up his very first shoot! I found the suitcase on a Camden market stall and thought it was perfect (little did I know he was already a little too long!) You may remember these two from their gorgeous Engagement session a few weeks ago... if you remember they had a particularly romantic story which really tugged my heart strings so I was sooo excited to shoot their wedding! It did not disappoint with every tiny detail lovingly arranged by Marie, who looked STUNNING and I have to say Nigel you scrubbed up pretty well too! Saying 'No thank you' to Uncle Bob...

So it is that time of year again, Christmas! You have spent a little more on your wedding than you planned and Christmas had dipped in to the slightly diluted wedding fund. Then Uncle Bob over his glass of sherry says... " You don't need a photographer, I have an SLR"

Now, you have seen some of the photos he took on the prom at Brighton last year and you even saw a shot of your niece that was really sweet and having eaten and drank too much you say... "that would be lovely"

There is your first mistake; It is fantastic when friends and family offer to help with the wedding preparations and how could you possibly say no when it is going to save you over £1000? BUT before you say yes read on...

1. THE BEST SHOTS: So uncle Bob took 1 lovely shot of your niece, was it luck or skill and how many did he take to get this shot? Even though Bob has converted to a good DSLR he is likely to think inside the box. How many group shots would he get, 2, 3 even? How many would a pro get to make sure that everyone is in focus, the light is correct and no one is blinking 10-20, then you get the 1 or 2 perfect shots that you need.

2. ARTISTIC IMAGES: Uncle Bob has got some great photos from Brighton Peer but did the beach huts move? Did he lie on the floor to get the best angle or run to catch up with them when they moved a bit faster than predicted? Being a professional is not only about seeing the great shots but shooting them from the best angle and running to get you when you walk back down the isle a bit too fast! Most photographers have not only studied in the art of 'seeing' a photograph but how to shoot their vision in the best possible way.

3. BACK UP EQUIPMENT: Uncle Bob has 1 DSLR? maybe a compact just in case? Most professional photographers have matching quality back ups to their main equipment costing thousands of pounds. They have more batteries than they could ever need and more card space then they could ever shoot on. How many cards does Bob have and what happens when one of his batteries fails? When you book a pro you are also booking piece of mind. Every one makes mistakes, as a pro it is being ready for them and being able to fix them in quick smart time on a wedding day so that nothing is missed or disturbed.

4. WEDDING KNOWLEDGE AND PREEMPTING: Uncle Bob can be discreet, I know, but does he know the rules? No flash in church, where are you aloud to stand in the venue, should he really click as you say the words 'I do'? Who arrives first? Where should he be and when? What happens when he gets lost on the way to the church and then stuck behind a tractor? There are a million things to remember when shooting a wedding and this is why the pros are pros. We talk to the vicar before the wedding, we know schedule or we make it our job to find out and not only do we do a dummy run to the church we have SAT NAV!

5. BACK UP: So Uncle Bob has shot your wedding, the camera card goes in his back pocket where he must remember to take it out before auntie Em puts them in the wash. He downloads them on to his 6 year old laptop (assuming it wont fail) and empties his card for his next wildlife shoot. What happens when the card goes in the wash or his old laptop fails? BACK UP All pros have backup in fact we don't sleep at night until your full wedding is backed up in several places so NOTHING short of the end of the world could delete those photos.

6. POST PROCESSING: Ok so Uncle Bob has worked his magic (or as much magic as he can muster at 72) and has presented you with a disc of images, you rush to get them home for a look (assuming the disc works) and you have a CD full of wedding shots. But they are all as you would expect - unprocessed. This is something that you never really thought about, 1 photo is much the same as another isn't it? Until you have a disc of shots with eyes shut, blurred images, badly lit photos, your first dance missing (Uncle Bob... "ah they didn't really come out very well") and the disappointment continues. The biggest part of our jobs as pros is post production work, we crop, we turn black and white, we use magic in Photoshop and quite simply although we have a great set of images we make them FANTASTIC!

So there are a few reasons to change your answer to; "That would be lovely but..." Use your photographer as an excuse (we don't mind) and the chances are you HAVE already paid a non refundable deposit!

Shooting a wedding is HARD believe me and the chances are after scouring the wedding mags you are going to want the best possible photos you can afford and in this instance your really do get what you pay for!

Autumn Apple Picking...

I am so excited to share this shoot with you. Just as the season turned from summer towards autumn I went to see this gorgeous family to take some shots of their 2 beautiful little boys. We had planned to go to some local woods but as soon as I arrived and saw their gorgeous garden full of fruit trees bursting with apples I knew this was the perfect location for the shoot! Their garden is my favorite kind, big, rambling and natural so we had a lovely time exploring all the nooks and crannies! We picked apples, watered the vegetables, dug up carrots and even went dinosaur hunting, needless to say I enjoyed myself as much as the children! Here are my favourites from the shoot...

Happy Halloween...

So I like to do a little Halloween project each year because at heart I am just a big kid and as I can no longer go trick or treating... this is my fun! Last years little project is HERE, but for this years fun we decided to take our pumpkin in to the garden. This actually was the tester shot as I wanted to post you a photo of me, however upon my turn Rob just couldn't make it work (it is a technically hard shot) so you get one of him looking suitably scary (or scared!) instead! Enjoy...

Nigel and Marie, a modern day romance...

Nigel and Maire have the best story. But not just the best story, a real modern day romance story - put simply, they met on the Internet. Its not hard to see when these two are together why the Internet has become one of the foremost meeting places for couples... they are so obviously crazy in love and totally mad about each other! Their first meeting was at the lovely Loch Fyne restaurant in Norwich city centre and from what they tell me this first encounter was very much the start of them falling in love! They are now due to get married 4 years after that initial meeting at the stunning St Giles House Hotel in Norwich this November; So what better place to shoot their super cool Engagement than the gorgeous back streets around St Giles? We decided to finish up their shoot back where it all began at Loch Fyne, where the lovely manager allowed us to take a few shots inside and out. I think their wedding is going to be beautiful, interesting, FUN and emotional and I cannot wait to shoot it!

Autumn Sunshine...

I did this shoot 3-4 weeks ago just as Autumn was appearing and it was still long sleeved shirt weather! These gorgeous children are cousins and I was contacted by one of their lovely mums who wanted photographs for their Grandmas 60th Birthday (lucky Grandma!) The children knew why they were involved which was great as it meant they had great fun posing and talking about what sort of shots Grandma might like. We also went to a local park opposite where their mum's grew up and somewhere they had played themselves as children. The light was stunning as the sun was going down, here are a few of my favorite shots...

I have been so excited to blog this wedding! Catherine and Stefan are friends of mine and when they asked me to shoot their wedding I was thrilled. They are coming home from their honeymoon today so I really wanted something for them to see on their return. This was such a fun wedding, I think a) because they were friends and b) because they are just the most fun couple ever! They are so, so in love which you can see every time they look at each other. They were also up for anything, especially Stefan (check out the LOVE shots) the 3 things combined make for fab wedding photos! So here are some of my favorites with a big thank you to their friends and family for making me feel so welcome and being so much FUN! x

I thought I would share with you one last taste of summer before autumn really sets in! Just looking at this shoot I can feel the warm sun on my face and feel like digging my flip flops back out! As usual we started at home in their gorgeous garden before heading down to the families favorite beach (and mine!) Wells. As it was a warm day it was fairy busy but we managed to find plenty of quiet areas to play with the amazing giant bubble blower (check out the series of bubble chasing images), Frisbee and bucket and spade they had brought along. I think the shoot feels like they are the only people on this amazing beach and they loved the results! I promise my next post will be a little more autumnal but for now, for the next few minutes you can pretend the nights aren't yet getting dark and if you nipped to the shops you could just pop your flip flops on! Enjoy...

An Elegant and Fun Wedding... Paul and Julia

Paul and Julia got married at the beautiful Parish Church of Eaton, arranged to have their photographs at none other than Norwich Cathedral and had their reception at the elegant yet relaxed Maids Head Hotel. This has to be one of my favorite weddings of the year, ok it helped that I got a gorgeous 3 course meal and entertained by some of Julia's super lovely friends, but also because Paul and Julia's philosophy for the day was very much my own... FUN! This came across in every meeting we had, they were always super keen that their friends and family relaxed and enjoyed themselves and judging the photographs of the dance floor they achieved just that! They set aside a good 30 mins for their couple shots which was great and meant we got some stunning shots around the cathedral and Maids Head. They had both felt super nervous on their Engagement Shoot (VIEW HERE) a few weeks ago but it was all worth while when Julia mentioned during their couple shots that she felt totally relaxed (I think her exact words were - 'I don' t feel silly')! One thing is for sure their Queensberry album is going to be GORGEOUS, I may not want to hand it over!

Conker time... Sneak Peek

This morning I met this gorgeous little girl and her mummy and daddy for a walk round her local village and a few photos! Wellies and raincoat on we headed off in search of puddles! We found plenty of puddles, a letter box and a phone box but toward the end of the shoot we found this great big old chestnut tree! The sun was streaming through the coppery leaves and we found lots of conkers to play with and throw... and put in her mouth (well they do look good enough to eat don't they!) Here is the sneak peek and another shoot that has reminded me why I love to taking photos in the autumn!

These gorgeous girlie's turned 21 this year. For their Birthday back in January their fantastic mum bought them a Vouchers for a photo shoot. I also arranged for them to have their makeup done and met them at home to start their shoot in their beautiful garden. They were both really nervous to begin with but soon relaxed and by the time we headed up to a local farm (where their mum keeps her horse) they were posing like pros! 2 outfit changes and a few locations later we had all had a ball! I went to see them yesterday evening and they were thrilled with the results so much so that their Christmas presents are near enough done this year too! Here are a few shots from the shoot...

Will and Becci Engagement Shoot...

Will and Becci are a really lovely couple and this was a great shoot! When they got Engaged Will did everything right, gorgeous ring and even asked Becci's dad for her hand in marriage before the proposal - so romantic. After which they went to the gorgeous Dunston Hall (also where they intend to have thier wedding night) for a celebratory meal. So what better place to do their Engagement Shoot than the amazing grounds of Dunston. They were up for anything and happy to go with any of my suggestions, even when I asked them to venture on to a golf course (dodging flying balls!) I love this about my clients when I take an image I can see in my head the finished result and its fantastic when my couples trust me when I ask them to do slightly odd things (check out the images lying in the grass!) Well this couple did and here are the fab results...

Yesterday was Stefan and Catherine's wedding, one I have been looking forward to for months and it didn't disappoint! The weather was a little iffy but just managed to hold out at the most important times of the day (except for when the Bridesmaids arrived at the ceremony!) In the evening the sun even came out for just long enough for us to take advantage and get some beautiful golden light to go with Catherine's stunning antique gold dress. There are LOADS more to come but for now here is there SP...

To Autumn....

I love Keats and really feel this poem sums up the magic of Autumn. This season is fantastic for photographers, everywhere I look there is a gorgeous new back drop and stunning lighting! The leaves are quickly turning golden and rust and I have started to crave stew and mash!

I LOVE shooting in the Autumn and winter. So many people I talk to are 'waiting for summer' to have their family shoot done, which I can understand green grass, shorts and tee shirts the beach, buckets and spades, but look at the results that a autumn or winter shoot can produce; Hats and scarves, wrapped up warm, your family shots take a totally different feel, cosier, warmer, almost more intimate and often (check out the girls in the snow) even more fun!.... Today I had the pleasure of shooting a lovely set of cousins. Their mums took me to a beautiful park in Norwich, a stones throw from where they grew up as sisters playing in the park! We did the shoot after school and got some gorgeous evening sunshine! The images are going to be a gift for a member of their family so this post is a bit hush, hush - hence the image choice which we had so much fun getting!

Yesterdays wedding was great for lots of reasons, the bride was super chilled out and looked beautiful, the church was one of the sweetest country churches I have ever been in and packed to the rafters(!) and the reception was in a marquee in David's parents gorgeous garden! I LOVE garden party weddings, people seem to be super relaxed as the dance floor proved later on! All in all it was a great fun day and all topped off with a chocolate fountain, what could be better! Look who is getting married tomorrow! I am so excited about this wedding, Louise and David are a lovely chilled out couple and I think their wedding will have a very similar vibe! Getting married at their local village church, the reception in a marquee in David's parents huge garden and a hog roast wedding breakfast, I think this wedding is going to be fun, fun, fun!

For their Engagement Shoot we decided to meet at David's parents and venture round the local fields. David took us up to some land his family owns up the top of a very long and bumpy track which was great as this stunning corn field and barn is not somewhere we would have usually found! They brought along their dog and puppy for the shoot which was a bit of a challenge but made for some fantastic 'full family' shots! Sneak Peek... Mummy, Daddy and Baby Bump Lewin!

Well today could have been a wash out, it poured down all day so much so that my first shoot had to rearrange! My second shoot was Emma, Paul and their baby bump! As the rain came down and the day wore on I was loosing hope for the gorgeous evening sun I had been praying for and thought we may even have to rearrange. The only problem was that we had already rearranged Emma's bump shoot a couple of times and as little Lewin is due in less than 3 weeks we were cutting it a bit fine! So we met and started in doors hoping that we may be lucky enough to get out later in the shoot... but the rain came down and down and down! We decided to head to a barn in a field close by as the light was still good and we were able to shelter from the rain. We were just about to call it a day when the rain stopped and out came the sun and along with it the most gorgeous bright rainbow!! We couldn't believe it and spent the next 45 mins getting very wet feet (sorry Paul!) shooting like crazy to get some awesome rainbow shots... and I think we did it! Here is their SP...

I think you will agree this can only be a sign that this is going to be one very special little baby!

Emma has also asked me to do some shots of this little lady/man (?) when he/she is born so these will soon be followed by some new born pics! Thanks for a fab afternoon guys and I cannot wait to meet little Lewin! x

Eaton E Shoot... and the cutest Kitten!

You may remember Carl and Charlotte's SP from a few weeks back, what I didn't tell you however is that on that day I also met the most gorgeous kitten I have ever seen (aside from my Mally!) called Toulouse! Upon seeing him and how much these guys doted upon him I knew I we could not leave for their location shots until I had some shots of the simply beautiful Toulouse. So with this tiny playful ball of fluff we started at home! We then went on to the always beautiful (even with a gray sky, or maybe especially with a gray sky) Eaton Park in Norwich which I just love due to the diverse back drops and you may be able to tell that the Lilly pads got my attention too! We just managed to get everything we needed before a rain cloud erupted and we made a dash back to the cars... here are some of my faves.

Oh and upon seeing Toulouse again a couple of evenings ago he is now twice the size and twice as playful! x

A lot of you may know that I LOVE to do photography courses. When I started my career 10 years ago it was all collage and university courses which meant lots of still life, lots and lots of theory and even more time in the dark room! The photography industry has changed almost beyond recognition since then and there is always more and more to learn and more opportunities to fine tune my style and skills. I fairly religiously follow a few photographers work who are very much at the top of their game within the photography industry and one of these is the amazing British Photographer Brett Harkness based in Manchester. Brett only shoots around 15 weddings per year and as such each one is very much an individual masterpiece within his fine tuned style that is recognisable to photographers all over the country if not world. This is one of the reasons that I choose to attend his courses because there is always more learning to do and who better to learn from than the best in the business. So I thought I would share with you some of the amazing images that I got on his recent wedding course. I hope that you enjoy looking at them and as always love to know your thoughts x

The Dunston Hall Wedding Show...

The time has come round again for the Dunston Hall Autumn Wedding Show. This is a fantastic show which always boasts a great calibre of stands and exhibitors. It will be taking place on Sunday the 26th of September from 11am till 4pm and I will be there exhibiting in the marquee. Sneak Peek... Family Beach shoot...

This morning was spent down the beach, flip flops off taking photos of the most super cute little girl and her gorgeous mum and dad... and they call this work! It was a great fun shoot with a giant frisbee, giant bubbles, a normal size bucket and spade and a little girl! We started in the families gorgeous garden complete with fruit trees, chickens, and cute pink wendy house before heading down to the stunning Wells beach which was fairly quiet at 9.45am! This has to be one of my favorite family Sneak Peeks of the summer...

Yesterdays Vintage Inspired wedding was amazing... the attention to detail stunning, the bride looked beautiful, the groom looked very handsome, their friends and family were super lovely and by looking at my 'dance floor' images super fun! We were a little pushed for time for their couple shots so we kept it quick and simple and got some really beautiful shots around their venue, the incredible St Giles House Hotel in Norwich. This has to be one of my fave E shoots this summer, gorgeous, fun couple - so obviously in love, woodland, beach, beach huts, blue skies, surf (a new lens to play with!) and ice cream, perfect! You may remember Chris and Louise from their fab Beach Sneak Peek a couple of weeks ago.... well here is a few more from their shoot. They decided to go to the beautiful Wells Beach to mirror the location Chris proposed (if slightly cooler)... Barbados! We had a fantastic time wandering on the beach on a stunning summers day, with every possible colour beach hut as the backdrop! Then we finished the shoot with the only possible way of finishing a beach shoot... with ice creams! Really looking forward to what is going to be a rather fun wedding with them next year!

These gorgeous girls had a shoot with me a couple of weeks ago. Claire and Becky are in fact twins and turned 21 back at the beginning of the year. Their mum in fact bought them the shoot for their birthday and I also arranged for them to have their makeup done by my amazing makeup artist. They tried a couple of different outfits and had the fantastic idea of having the shoot down at the horse yard where their mum keeps her horse. When we arrived and saw the hay bales I got rather excited and along with these and some great old farm doors and equipment we got some fab shots. This was the second of my two fab shoots yesterday and was an Engagement Shoot with this super gorgeous couple. After Will proposed to Becci they went for a meal at the stunning Dunston Hall and although they are not getting married at Dunston they have also chosen this venue for their wedding night... so what better place for their Engagement Shoot! we wandered round the beautiful grounds and found this fantastic wooden hut in the woods! This couple were up for anything, dodging golf balls and getting quite mucky (sorry Will!) we had a great time exploring and taking images along the way. So here is their Sneak Peek...

Beautiful Birthday Baby!

You may remember this gorgeous wee girl from her Sneak Peek in the woods a couple of weeks ago but here is a few more. I first met Libby last summer when she was just a couple of months old and nearly a year later her Mummy and Daddy had the fab idea of having her photographs done with the whole family on her 1st Birthday! She was not quite walking (although I have heard since that she has now taken her first steps - how exciting!) but she could sit like a top model and crawl like an athlete - hence the picture of her disappearing around the flower pot! We started with a few in the garden with the brightly coloured flowers and both sets of grandparents before heading up to the stunning Sheringham Park with a nice bright pink ballon! She did a fantastic job of posing for the photos and with all her family round her she was such a happy little girl the shoot was a bit of a breeze! I hope to be shooting this gorgeous girlie and her super lovely family for many years to come and cannot wait to look back on the images maybe on her 18th!

This weekend I am off to Kendal in the Lake District (my home town) to have what I believe to be a well earned weekend off! There will be lots of visiting friends and family and maybe a drink or two to celebrate a fab 2010 so far! I will also be mixing a little business with pleasure and attending a fantastic photography course by the amazing Brett Harkness based in Manchester before arriving home Monday evening for a very busy week including 2 viewings, 3 family shoots, an engagement shoot and an exhibiting at the Narborough Summer Fete on Saturday! So before I get distracted by all that I wanted to share this amazing wedding with you from a couple of weeks back that I did with the incredible Steve Gerrard.

Dunston Hall Advert...

The Dunston Hall Wedding Show is coming up again and I have been redesigning my advert for the brochure. The Show is one of the biggest in Norfolk and super popular and as I missed the last one due to a wedding to shoot (although I did have a friend of mine attend in my place) I am really looking forward to exhibiting and meeting lots more lovely couples hopefully looking for wedding photography! The last one was a huge success with lots of weddings booked and in fact I have been meeting brides and grooms ever since who saw the stand (including my couple from last night!) A Riverside Engagement...

Here is another of my gorgeous September Couples. Paul and Julia are getting married in Norwich and having their group and couple shots in the amazing grounds of the Norwich Cathedral; So we thought this would also make a great place for their Engagement Shoot! We started at the river and took some lovely shots with the bridges, boats and very blue sky in the background and then had a stroll round to the Cathedral for something a little more dramatic. The shoot was great fun and although Paul admitted that he was a little nervous to begin with soon got in to it and was posing like a pro before long! I love doing my couples E Shoots so close to their weddings and this is the perfect example. Rather than be worried about getting their photograph taken on the day I know they will be just as comfortable at the beginning of their couple shots as they were at the end of their Engagement shoot. This means we can get beautiful natural results in less time. It helps that Paul and Julia are lovely, easy going and fun and I know their wedding is going to be just magical.

You may remember the lovely Beth and Paul from the sneak peek a few weeks ago, well here is the rest of their shoot. We met at their home in the lovely town of Thetford and had originally intended to go over to the famous and beautiful Thetford forest. However Paul suggested that we have a look at a park right in the centre of the town. When we got there it was beautiful a small little piece of England complete with bowling green and tennis courts. We had a great time exploring and got some lovely images in the trees and beautiful rose gardens. Thank you for a lovely English summers afternoon guys... x

We had a great time out in the fields round and about David's parents house how lucky that they have so much fantastic land that was pretty much made for this shoot including this amazing corn field! Here is another of my lovely couples due to get married in September. For their Engagement shoot we decided to head to their wedding venue, the super gorgeous St Giles House, a boutique hotel in Norwich. The room they are getting married in is spectacular (I will save these shots for later!) but as you can see so is the beautiful frontage of the building which made for some great dramatic shots. Having already had a Lifestyle Shoot they were a dab hand at posing and looked really comfortable in front of the camera which will be great on their wedding day! The first of my two Engagement Shoots today was the fab Carl and Charlotte. Charlotte had expressed to me before the shoot that as they had never had professional shots done together as a couple they were a little nervous. However they both took to it like ducks to water and relaxed quickly in to the shoot. We started at their home where I met the most gorgeous kitten I have ever seen - Toulouse (he even came pretty close to my own kitty!) and got a few sneaky shots of the three of them! Then we headed down to the stunning Eaton park in Norwich, just a few minutes from their home where we spent most of the time shooting around the gorgeous Band Stand and Lake. We were almost finished when the rain started coming down and we made a dash for it back to the cars! Here is their Sneak Peek...

I had a lovely day today in beautiful Norwich doing two Engagement Shoots and a Family Shoot. My second Shoot of the day was Sam and the very beautiful Natalie. The sun was well and truly beating down as we headed for their chosen location the lovely Oaklands Hotel where they will be getting married in September 2011! We had a great time shooting in the grounds and even managed to take a few sneaky ones in the hotel (like the one below) where there was also another wedding going on today giving the place a great celebratory feel and making their Engagement shoot all the more exciting! They were great to shoot and Natalie had stunning big blue eyes and the longest legs I have ever seen (!) that have made for some great shots, but for now here is their Sneak Peek...

Oh my..... Being a bit of a blog nerd, or just a wee bit nosey, I often find myself surfing the net for anything lovely and bridal and inspiring. With that in mind today I came accross the oh so amazing Magpie Vintage. There is very little to say about these stunning bridal accessories except... Oh my! A City Engagement... Sneak Peek...

Nic and Jude have an equally fantastic meeting and Engagement story that began when they met at Norwich University. They actually moved in to Halls of residence and lived next door to each other before became friends and then got together! Both being from different parts of the country Jude from Essex and Nic from Northampton not only did they fall in love with each other but also the beautiful city of Norwich which is where after finishing Uni they both decided to settle. Nic took Jude on a city break to Dublin where being a big whisky drinker they decided to go on a Jamesons tour. After a few 'tastings' Nic popped the big question and Jude said.... YES!
For their engagement shoot we went down to the beautiful Norwich Cathedral and then Nic gave me a tour through the back streets of Norwich back to their home. We got this shot after I had 'finished' Shooting but with Jude's spotty dress it is one of my faves.

This shoot also finished with an ice cream but sadly not for me as I had already had my quota at the beach that morning! Thanks for the city tour Nic and a lovely afternoon getting to know you both. x

A Caribbean Engagement... Sneak Peek...

I have a couple of special Sneak Peeks for you this morning from two rather different Engagement Shoots each with rather exciting engagement stories!

The first is this gorgeous couple below who's romantic story starts with them having been together since school and all through Louise's degree and masters at Loughborough University! Chris decided to pop the question and took Louise to Barbados, yes Barbados, for her birthday where he asked Louise to marry him on the Beach - how could Louise have said anything but YES! They decided to have their shoot on Wells Beach to mirror their engagement location and although its not quite Barbados, the weather was beautiful and the beach huts made for an amazing backdrop.
